Jessica Bartlett has been dancing in the Durham Region area since the young age of 3. She has been trained as a competitive dancer in many different styles such as ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acrobatics and tap. As her competitive years came to an end Jessica then decided to continue her education in dance at George Brown College where she graduated from the Dance Performance Preparation Program, as well as the Dance Performance Studies Program.
While studying at George Brown, Jessica received more extensive training in ballet, pointe, jazz and modern dance while working with choreographers such as Cynthia Macedo, Jane Wooding, Derek Sangster, Ray Hogg, Meredith Thompson, and Eddie Kastrau. Jessica also had the opportunity to work with the George Brown Dance Ensemble which included repertoire pieces from Ballet Jorgen Canada.
As a dancer Jessica also has completed exams in the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association(CDTA) syllabus as well as the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD). She is also a certified teacher of the Associate Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT). Jessica is excited and happy to be starting a new chapter with all of you!
Jackie Dew (B.F.A., ADAPT, PBT) is a dancer, choreographer, and instructor based in the Greater Toronto Area. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts - Dance Performance from Chapman University (Orange, CA), where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and was the recipient of the “Academic Excellence” award. Jackie is also a graduate of the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) Teachers Training School, where she was recognized for achieving the highest GPA in her cohort, and has also recently completed her Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) certification. She has taught in both Canada and the U.S. for several dance studios, and has also been a guest instructor within Huntington Beach Union High School District. At the competitive level, Jackie has been recognized for both her choreography and for her positive engagement with her students, and has seen her dancers earn multiple overalls, special awards, and scholarships. Additionally, her students have been accepted into regional arts school programs, including Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts and the Regional Arts & Media Program at All Saints Catholic Secondary School.
As a dancer, Jackie is a versatile performer known for her passion, energy, and athleticism. She has had the opportunity to perform works by notable choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Merce Cunningham, Jennifer Backhaus, Sean Greene, and Vanessa Voskuil, and has performed with Backhausdance (Orange County, CA), Shield Wall Dance Company (Los Angeles, CA), and in the American Dance Festival’s 80th anniversary Footprints Concert (Durham, NC). Jackie was also the director and choreographer of her own Orange County-based company, Jackie Dew & Dancers, which debuted at the 2015 SoCal Dance Invitational, and was the grand prize choreography award winner at the 5th annual APA Dance Festival. Currently, Jackie is a member of TDC Entertainment Inc., with whom she has had the opportunity to perform in events such as “Illuminite,” and the “Nu Skin Greater China Mega Incentive” awards gala.
Jackie is thrilled to be returning to Ajax Dance Company family for her fifth season, and is excited to continue sharing her love of dance and choreography with all of her students! Jackie is excited to share her love of dance and choreography with the students of Ajax Dance Company, and is thrilled to be part of this wonderful team!
Alison grew up in Edmonton, Alberta where her love for ballet, teaching, history, and anatomy was ignited. Her post-secondary education began at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance headquarters in London, England in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Ballet Education programme, University of Surrey. Additionally, she received the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance.
Alison returned to Edmonton and trained students in the RAD method. She successfully entered students in Graded and Vocational exams and choreographed for festivals, competitions, and year-end recitals. With a keen interest in safe dance practices and anatomy, Alison sought further training and became certified in mat Pilates and Progressing Ballet Technique.
Most recently, Alison has completed her studies on the Masters in Dance program at York University in Toronto, Ontario, which has further developed her interest in dance history and research. Alison uses her experience and training to support students with their dance ambitions.
Miss Tahani has been dancing for over 16 years, and continues to foster her passion for dance through teaching and technique. She is certified through The BATD (British Association Teachers of Dancing) and Acrobatic Arts. Although she loves all genres of dance, she truly enjoys Hip Hop, Acro, and Contemporary.
As she continues towards her dance education, Miss Tahani hopes to share her love of dance with her students and inspire them to be expressive and disciplined through the arts.
